Cumberland County Courthouse

This past weekend I took a trip to the southern part of Illinois to watch my nephews motocross race and along the way passed through Toledo, Illinois. Toledo has a nice little town square where the Cumberland County Courthouse is located.  I couldn’t resist stopping to take some photographs.  Each image is a composite of 3 photos combined in Nik Software HDR Efex Pro 2.  Click on each image to view larger.

Old Truck

I made this photo from 3 exposures  (-1 EV, 0 EV, +1 EV- Handheld) taken on a recent trip to Galena, IL. and subsequently combined them in Photomatix Pro. I then made a few slight adjustments in Lightroom giving it that kinda far out, unreal look which I think looks cool on old vehicles.  If you are new to HDR imaging as I am, you will find this great tutorial very helpful.  If you enjoyed my photo please share with others and/or leave me a comment.

Old Time Bridge

Here are a few HDR images of an old bridge I took recently.  I was at the beginning of a late afternoon photo “jaunt” out around the area where I live which was highlighted by me slipping in the mud under the bridge, nearly dislocating my shoulder and sliding precariously down the bank, camera and tripod in hand, nearly into the water.  Needless to say my backside, coat and shoes were caked with mud.  Even though I felt a bit foolish and jumped up as quick as I could to see if anyone had observed my acrobatics, I did not let it deter me from the rest of the day doing what I love…taking pictures ( mud and all)! Hope you enjoy them. Click on the images to view larger.  Leave a comment and tell me which one you like best.

Round Corn-crib Sunrise

Another beautiful sunrise this morning.  I never considered myself an early riser but as I get older I’m finding it’s the best part of the day. As I was out driving this morning waiting for the light and the great colors that come with it, I found this old rather unique looking old corn-crib not too far from my house. Hope you like it. Michigan Lighthouse

Big Red Lighthouse-Holland, MI.

This is Michigan’s most photographed lighthouse- commonly known as “Big Red” – and a favorite among all the Holland attractions.  It is located in Ottawa County, Michigan at the entrance of a channel connecting Lake Michigan with Lake Macatawa, and which gives access to the city of Holland, Michigan.  Except for its color, it is a virtual twin of the Kewaunee Pierhead Light on the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan.  Over the years, “Big Red” has taken on a life of its own, popular with painters, photographers, beach-goers, and boaters.  It’s a “must see” if you’re in Holland.

McLean County Museum, Bloomington, IL.

Several exterior shots of the McLean County Museum of History in downtown Bloomington, IL.  This used to be the McLean County Courthouse and is an American Renaissance style structure that was built from 1901-1903. The dome and drum were restored in 2004 and as you can see are quite interesting.  Hope you enjoy!
